The PEG ratio, as referenced in the question, takes the price-to-earnings ratio and divides it by a company's projected long-term earnings growth rate. As a general rule, a PEG ratio of 1 or lower indicates you're getting future growth at a good value. That's what the PEG ratio attempts to capture. Keep in mind that we also collect a dividend to compensate us for any lack of earnings growth. These factors outweigh the PEG ratio in our view and are our primary focus right now when it comes to valuing Abbott.

It's been a great month for Eaton stock. The power management company notched a series of record highs during a lengthy post-earnings rally that saw shares surge 17% in February. They include infrastructure spending, further artificial intelligence adoption necessitating the construction of more data centers, the acceleration of the transition to clean energy, and the rise of nearshoring and onshoring. The semiconductor giant's results highlighted strength and demand for data centers — a big part of Eaton's overall business and sales. AI data centers require lots more electrical components, which will likely show up on Eaton's order book down the line.

Renewable energy is more reliable but its promise for the region still remains largely unmet. Most households have depended on gasoline generators for power, but recently the government removed a gasoline subsidy, prompting increased interest in solar power, according to dealers. The Nigerian government has not announced incentives to promote solar energy, such as reducing import taxes on solar equipment as demanded by dealers. “The problem was affordability, but now customers can pay installments over a period of 18 months,” said Tunde Oladipupo, an agent for Sun King, a solar power company. Another example of this shift is the Ford vehicle assembly plant in Silverton, Pretoria, which currently sources over 35% of its electricity from solar power.

July 31 (Reuters) - Chipmaker ON Semiconductor Corp (ON.O) on Monday forecast third-quarter revenue above market estimates, on optimism that strong demand from the automotive sector will offset broader weakness in the semiconductor industry. Automotive chipmaker NXP last week forecast a strong third-quarter revenue and profit, exuding confidence over a steady automotive demand. Onsemi, which makes sensors and supplies chips to companies like Volkswagen (VOWG_p.DE), expects revenue between $2.10 billion to $2.20 billion in the third quarter. For the second quarter ended June 30, the company's revenue rose to $2.09 billion, ahead of analysts' expectations of $2.02 billion. The revenue was boosted by Onsemi's power solutions group, which provides power management chips, making up about 53% of total quarterly revenue.

TOKYO, May 28 (Reuters) - Proxy adviser Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) has recommended that shareholders of Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T) vote in favour of a resolution urging the automaker to improve disclosure of its lobbying related to climate change. ISS in a report also said it regarded three of Toyota's four outside board director nominees as not truly independent. Toyota's board said the fluidity of such disclosure made the proposal unsuitable for enshrining in the articles of incorporation. A spokesperson previously said few firms globally have made climate policy engagement-related disclosure to the extent of Toyota. "Toyota does not provide shareholders with enough information to evaluate its lobbying activities," ISS said.
SHANGHAI, Feb 21 (Reuters) - Chinese electric vehicle (EV) startup Nio Inc (9866.HK) plans to build 1,000 battery-swapping stations in China in 2023 to bring the total number of such facilities to 2,300 by year-end, its Founder and Chairman William Li said on Tuesday. The move marks an expansion of its plan in December of adding 400 such stations this year. Li found more of them are needed to improve user experience after his trips to northeastern China and lower-tier cities in Zhejiang, he added. Battery swapping allows drivers to replace depleted packs quickly with fully charged ones, rather than plugging the vehicle into a charging point. Nio is among the few EV makers that are betting on battery swapping as one of the major power solutions for electric cars.
Ahead of COP 27, CNN’s Eleni Giokos discussed this and other topics at Africa Energy Week in Cape Town, with Verner Ayukegba, Senior Vice President of the African Energy Chamber, which works with businesses in the continent and promotes energy growth. At the African Energy Chamber, we have decided to champion making energy poverty history by 2030. We need to make sure that we solve, of course, the climate issues, but also the power issues. What we are saying, however, is that you can’t transition in Limpopo [South Africa] in the same way you transition in New York. For anybody who has a constituency with 600 million people without power, you need to talk differently about these issues.
Mitsubishi raises profit forecast on higher coal, LNG prices
  + stars: | 2022-11-08 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +2 min
TOKYO, Nov 8 (Reuters) - Mitsubishi Corp (8058.T) on Tuesday raised its full-year net profit forecast by 21% to a record 1.03 trillion yen ($7 billion), amid strength in metals and energy segments thanks to higher prices of coking coal and liquefied natural gas (LNG). Like global energy companies, Japanese trading houses have benefited from surging oil, gas and coal prices this year in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Mitsubishi boosted its profit outlook for the year to March 31 to over 1 trillion yen from its May estimate of 850 billion yen. The latest forecast was in line with a mean estimate of 1.08 trillion yen in a poll of 10 analysts by Refinitiv. For the April-September first half, net profit nearly doubled to a record 720 billion yen, helped by a rally in coking coal and LNG as well as a one-off gain from selling a real estate management company.
